The Subtle Beauty (Crowns of the Twelve Book 1) by Ann Hunter

The Subtle Beauty (Crowns of the Twelve Book 1)...
I purchased this ebook (Kindle edition) on March 23, 2016.
Now...I read CONSTANTLY! And I will read just about anything...horror, biographies, fantasy, how-to, etc. You get the picture lol.
But I have to say...while I admire Ann Hunter for trying to retell the Beauty and the Beast...in my opinion her version of it is far too predictable, the writing was far below what I would expect for a YA novel (my 10 year old granddaughter read it also and she said the same thing), and to be perfectly blunt and honest....it was boring!
I will typically grab a paperback (kindle version usually) and read it non-stop until it is done. Yes...housework gets put on the back burner also. However, with The Subtle Beauty...I had a hard time getting past the first chapter, let alone the whole ebook. It took me several days to finish this one, because the story just didn't draw me in.
Even the editing for this ebook was atrocious. There were quite a few grammatical errors, not to mention Ms. Hunter had a tendency to "zone out" when it came to her character's names. There are several instances where I had to re-read a sentence or two to figure out which character she was "trying" to refer to (i.e.: she used Colin's name instead of Eoghan's on more than one occasion).
But I digress....let me get back to the subject at hand...which is "the story".

*Note: SPOILER ALERTS! Stop reading right here if you want to read the book yourself and not have any of it spoiled for you!!!*

Ok...Glory and her sisters are supposed to represent the 7 deadly sins. Got it!
Glory represents "vanity"...Got it!
Glory is "in love" with Colin (and vice versa)...Got it!
Glory's father, the King, sets her up in a pre-arranged marriage to Eoghan...Got it!
Eoghan is a Phoenix!!! WTH???? I get that Eoghan is supposed to represent the Beast...but really???
Glory kisses Eoghan...while he's a Phoenix!!! Again...WTH???
Glory develops "feelings" for Eoghan...I hesitate to call it "love" because she was "in love" with Colin also, until he went berserk and did everything in his power to rescue Glory (at her bidding mind you).

I could keep going, what I think you get the gist of it.
In my personal opinion...this ebook was not worth my time or effort to read it. I would have much preferred doing the dishes, by hand, than having wasted my time on this one. I'm sorry Ms. Hunter...hopefully the other ebooks in this series are better written, less predictable, and better suited for the YA genre.
